The winery was founded in 2020 from the idea of the founder, Marco Pettinelli, to recover old abandoned vineyards. These vineyards have become the heart of the production process because they have particular characteristics that make the wines unique.
The vineyards are located in the territory of Affile, a small town in Lazio, in the province of Rome, lying on the southern slope of the Affilani mountains at about 684 meters above sea level, near the Simbruini mountain range in whose valley the Aniene river flows. Topography, microclimate and soil express a unique terroir in the area.
White soils, commonly called "clay", contain a high percentage of clay, a lot of limestone and are rich in minerals.
The excellent exposure of the vines, intensely and for a long time irradiated by the sun, favors ripening, while the temperature range makes it slow and complex. Ventilation and mists, along with solar lighting, create vibrant acidity levels and elegant structures.
The grape varieties grown are Cesanese d'Affile and Trebbiano toscano - which in the environment acquire particular aromatic characteristics and a distinctive profile - to which Rhine Riesling and Pinot Noir were added in 2022 to obtain, thanks to the microclimate and soil, original and interesting wines.
Agricultural practices, from pruning, to disease prevention, to green manure sowing, to vegetation management, are done manually because machinery cannot be introduced between the rows of the old vineyards. Above all, a regenerative and sustainable method is followed that will allow the company to acquire, shortly, organic certification.
The cellar is a very cool environment, below the residential part of the family farmhouse, with a temperature that remains constant between 12-20oC during the year. It is equipped with state-of-the-art machinery, steel tanks and French oak barrels, as well as tools for controlling the winemaking processes, from alcoholic fermentation, to aging, up to bottling.
From the combination of all these factors comes a diverse and fascinating range of wines that express the essence of the place and the art of winemaking.
OUR TEAM
Behind every single bottle there is family work. The name "Rinelli Vigneti" unites the surnames of the Ricci and Pettinelli families whose members form a close-knit and passionate working group that has the ambition to create "oenological works of art".
In the team, captained by owner Marco, everyone plays a role. His son Stefano, oenologist and agronomist, is entrusted with the care of the vineyards and the winemaking process in which he implements innovative ideas and techniques to obtain excellent wines. Everyone collaborates in the work in the countryside and in the cellar, labeling, packaging with attention to novelty and progress. The artistic vein of the group creates colorful and evocative labels, while those with experience in the commercial field take care of promotion and sales with a modern strategy that guarantees customers unique experiences. Finally, we constantly study to ensure sustainability and respect for the ecosystem throughout the production process.
